Prince Paul is a full member of the Royal Family of Romania and the birth of his son Prince Carol Ferdinand in 2010 reinforced the family links
Thanks to his great-uncle Prince Nicolae’s widow, Princess Thereza, whom he met in Madrid, Prince Paul celebrated Christmas in Salzburg with his great-aunt Princess Ileana, King Carol II’s sister. She founded a Romanian orthodox monastery in Pennsylvania. Both had met earlier in the United States in 1979/80.

Prince Paul returned to Salzburg with his wife, Lia to gather with his cousin Maria Magdalena von Österreich-Toskana von Holzhausen.

At the birth of Prince Carol Ferdinand in 2010, Prince Paul’s cousins Maria Magdalena (Magi) and her sister Elisabeth von Habsburg Sandhofer came to his house in Bucharest to meet the newborn. The photo was taken in front of the portrait of Prince Nicolae, their uncle and Prince Paul’s great-uncle. Archduchess Magi came later to hold Prince Carol Ferdinand in her arms.
